BIOSKETCH
Lecturer in the Discipline of Traditional Medicine within the School of Medicine at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN). She holds a B.Sc. degree in Microbiology from the University of the Free State (UFS), where she majored in Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Biotechnology. Following her undergraduate studies, she gained experience as a microbiologist in the Bioprocessing and Biomanufacturing unit at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) before pursuing postgraduate studies at UKZN, where she completed her B.Sc. (Honours) and M.Sc. in Microbiology.She obtained her PhD in Public Health from UKZN. Her doctoral research investigated the in vitro effects of Product Nkabinde, a South African polyherbal formulation, on immune responses and HIV replication. She has also conducted research on the role of traditional medicine in HIV and Chlamydia trachomatis co-infection. Her research has been published in internationally recognised, peer-reviewed scientific journals. She is committed to advancing research, teaching, and innovation in traditional medicine.
